Documentation FAQ

Common questions about installing and using Valerie.

How do I install the widget?

Add one line of code to your site, just before the closing </body> tag:

<script src="https://talktovalerie.com/valerie/v1.js" data-site-id="YOUR_SITE_ID" async></script>

Get your site ID from the dashboard settings after signing up. For detailed instructions, see our installation guide.

Will Valerie slow down my website?

No. The Valerie script is under 10KB, loads asynchronously (it won't block your page), and uses edge computing for <50ms decisioning. It's designed to have zero impact on your Core Web Vitals. The widget only renders when triggered, so there's no performance cost until a visitor actually sees the feedback prompt.

Can I target different questions to different pages?

Yes. Valerie supports URL pattern matching so you can ask different questions on different pages. For example, you might ask "How easy was checkout?" on your checkout page and "Did you find what you were looking for?" on your search results page. Configure targeting rules in your dashboard.

How do alerts work?

Valerie offers three types of notifications:

  • Daily digests - Summary of yesterday's feedback, sent every morning
  • Weekly reports - In-depth analysis with trends, sent every Monday
  • Urgent alerts - Immediate notification when a page's satisfaction drops significantly (e.g., more than 15-20% in 24 hours)

You can configure thresholds and toggle each notification type in your dashboard settings.

What data do you store?

We store feedback responses (scores and comments), the page URL where feedback was given, a visitor identifier (for frequency limiting), and basic metadata like device type and timestamp. We do not store personal information unless visitors voluntarily include it in their comments. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Is Valerie free?

Yes, Valerie offers a free tier with all core features included. No credit card required to get started. See our pricing page for more details.

Can I remove the widget anytime?

Yes. Simply delete the script tag from your site and the widget will stop appearing immediately. Your historical data will remain in your dashboard, but no new feedback will be collected. You can re-add the script at any time to resume collecting feedback.

Does the widget work with single-page apps (React, Vue, etc.)?

Yes. The Valerie widget detects URL changes in single-page applications and automatically adjusts its targeting. It works with React, Vue, Next.js, Nuxt, and any other SPA framework without additional configuration.

How accurate is the AI sentiment analysis?

Our AI uses modern language models to classify sentiment and extract themes. While no AI is 100% accurate, we find it correctly identifies sentiment and key issues in the vast majority of cases. The AI also improves over time as it processes more feedback. You can always view the raw feedback alongside AI summaries to verify insights.

Can I customize the widget appearance?

Yes. You can customize colors, position (bottom-right, bottom-left), and widget format (floating card, bottom bar, modal, etc.) from your dashboard. The widget is designed to blend with most sites out of the box, but customization options let you match your brand.
